Jetsonia's Government

Technologically based society

Two main bodies of Government: Empathions and Logicians

Empathions: Make decisions based on what is the right thing to do. This group is non-utilitarians who try to help everyone.

Logicians: Make decisions based on Logic. Will kill one person to save two, etc. They are the Ultimate Utilitarian group.

The two bodies confer together to make the widespread policy decisions. These positions are not voted into, they are test based (technological society) previous group trains the new group every five years for five years. Each group is in office for 10 years.

Ten Logocians and nine Empathions to make decisions, they vote on everything. The entire body is commonly known as the brain, but formerly known as the Jetsonian Brain Trust.

Motto Description

"The Future Unites Us All"
This is our motto for our utopian society, Jetsonia. Jetsonia is a technology driven society. This is significant because since we depend on the latest and best technologies to run our society, we are constantly looking at the future. This explains why our motto is the future unites us all. Without the future and people continuously coming up with the latest technology, we would not be able to succeed and be continuously developing in every way we intend to. The motto also has to do with the fact that we have two bodies of government in the Empathions and the Logicians. Our technology and the future of our technology unites these two bodies of government and helps us become successful.

Seal Description

Seeing how our utopian society is called Jetsonia, our seal has a futuristic space theme. Similar to what the Jetson family used for transportation, I created a spaceship (or flying car) that is shaped into a giant "J" (with the "estonia" portion of our society's name on the left side of the ship). We are using this creation to show how technologically advanced we are in this society versus others. The front of the ship is an arrow pointing forward to explain that our society only looks to the future and never looks back to the past. History texts are deemed as forbidden because the government believes that it helps everyone focus on creativity and discovery without embracing past inventions. This also explains our motto (“The Future Unites Us All”) placed on the flag that the robotic ship hand is holding. Of course between our two-sided government, matters are discussed between the Empathions and Logicians, and are never resolved until votes are tallied, concluding with the Logicians having their final say due to there being more of them. The creature in the cockpit of the ship happens to be an alien like Elroy Jetson’s pet, Orbity. The alien species is our Utopian animal reminding citizens of how one always feels warmth and calmness, resulting in a happy state of mind.

Thisismoody's Reflective Final Public Writing Project

Beginning with idea that Jetsonia was centered around the future, our goals were to make a society where everything is three or four times better within the realm of digital citizenship. If our motto hadn’t stated verbatim that “the future unites us all,” then I think our utopia wouldn’t be a utopia at all. We had to think realistically, and consider that too much individualism (mentioned in a few blogs) would stir too much chaos in a perfect utopia. By enforcing a set of given laws and regulations, our people would prosper in digital literacy, train themselves for real-life careers (in relation to digital access), and most importantly, understand digital etiquette and communication so that our society may advance appropriately.
My contributions in the composition came from all different angles. Outside of the individual day entry posts and invitation letter I created the seal description, the advertisement video, collaborated on the proclamation statement and rules and regulations in class. Plus we all did our own editorial revisions of the proclamation statement and daily itinerary. There were a slew of key terms and concepts that I made up throughout the blog experiment. Just a few of them were technological devices (like guilt-a-meters), Non-Technologicians (Jetsonian people who hate technology), terminals (criminals who have committed technological crimes), and Flintstonia (the society where Jetsonians are taking to when violating laws).
I think with the development of Flintstonia, it definitely sent out that message that we were serious about restricting unlawful and unnecessary conduct. Our ideas for a perfect educational system also set the tone about how we determine their future, by evaluating students experience on the computer and on the Internet. MayBe’s (the blogger) response, showed confusion in how much privacy she would be allowed to have in digital access, and wondered who exactly would be able to participate in technological activities. Her main concern related to our theory on mind erasing Earthlings, when they first enter our society. She believed that this took away from fixing problems, but rather ignoring it, when this is our solution to eliminating violence period. By using mind erasing tools, if a Jetsonian should ever rebel against technology (such as a Non-Technologician would) then they would just protest and vandalize by any technological means, and never elevate to violence as an option. My explanation should’ve defined how this functions, keeping the citizen from ever going that route.
I think when the idea for Flintstonia developed it got the group thinking on the same page. Once we figured that Flintstonia was a better alternate than serving a jail/prison sentence, it got our creative minds in working order. If I could change anything, I wish that the whole group could’ve met up at least once as a collective whole outside of class, but we couldn’t due to scheduling differences. I wish we would’ve had our presentation written within the blog, rather than on a Powerpoint. Plus, I would’ve liked some input on the video with other members when writing the text segments in between the pictures and video.
What I liked most about the process was that we were basically free to go anywhere with our assignment, as long as in stayed within the lines of digital citizenship. I think our most difficult task was not so much a task, but actually getting the comments section up on our blog. If it wasn’t for FABunny’s prior blogging experience with her personal blog In the Bunny Kitchen, then we probably wouldn’t have been able to get it up. For me though, I was the responsible group leader, so inside and outside of the classroom I took lead in getting the group organized, in order for assignments to be completed on time. Either once or twice a week, I would contact my members, either through e-mail or by phone to make sure that we were on the same pace. I consider CSKennedy as my co-leader because if I was busy or couldn’t reach another member, he would take charge of the situation. Plus, his blog posts and mine meshed well together, or if we traded ideas we would elaborate them.
The only obstacle I faced was trying to come up with the itinerary assignment. I had brainstormed all of these ideas, but none of them really matched up with daily itinerary. After CSKennedy had set a layout, we were able to pay more attention to the detail in our editorials itinerary revisions. It was easy to come up with inventive material, but sometimes it couldn’t be too different because I still had to pay close attention to what my other group members were writing. Overall, I believe our group deserves an “A” because every member dedicated enough time and effort to creating a unique society that’s out of this world, in comparison to anything on this planet. Thanks to my members CSKennedy, SmarterthanOdysseus and FABunny, I may challenge myself at creating my own personal blog of some sort.

Letter to a Professor

Dr. Jones:

I have reviewed your credentials and am pleased to inform you that you and your family have the opportunity to join our society.  Our society looks to better humanity by looking and working towards the future.  We are now in the process of building more learning institutions or our young adults.  Our latest institution, Jetson University, is still in need of a president and we would be very happy to have you on board.

Being that you, a Tenured Professor in Editing Writing and Media, have also served as part of your own University's administration, it is only right that you help expand Jetsonia's young minds.

Jetsonia is a digitally inclined society, meaning that it is high speed and hassle free. We work to promote human growth through the aid of computers.  We like that you have extensive research in Media and Digital Citizenship, and believe that you could be the rock in which we build our universities.

Jetsonia was built with the hope that our children could live an a thriving environment where we have passes the sky's limit.  We are quickly expanding into a society where friends are only a click away.

If you accept, you will be running Jetsonia's main public University.  This University will be on par with other Great Earthly ones, such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Oxford University.  Our students and families will look up to your professional opinion in which direction the University shall go.  This academic year, over 1500 students have been accepted to our University as freshmen.  They are the pioneers of the future by stepping onto our campus.

We have many aspirations for our university.  Not only is our curriculum exceptional, but athletics and student organizations are to be promoted for the student community.  We plan on being a community like no other.  With our digital advancement, we hope to make everyone and everything easily accessible.

We believe that our students need someone like you. Although the job may not be easy, the respect that the job holds is well worth it.

If you do accept, you will be paid very well and your family will be accommodated with a selection of properties that you may choose from in order to make the transition easier.  Your children will have the option of going to the best local schools.  You will also be provided with transportation to and from the University.

Again, we are very pleased to have you join our society to lead our young adults, if you accept.
